New Orleans Nonprofit Art Camp 504 Relocates, Moving Into Its Own Building For the First Time

Having held art camps and classes in The Tigermen Den for eight years, Art Camp 504 is expanding its real estate footprint as it enters its second decade

May 15, 2026 (NEW ORLEANS) -  As it celebrates its 10th anniversary year, today Art Camp 504 announced that it’s moving to 2803 St. Claude Ave in New Orleans’ Marigny neighborhood. The youth arts nonprofit’s board of directors began a real estate search in January 2026 and quickly found the perfect home - the old Gerkens Bike shop at the corner of St. Claude Ave and St. Ferdinand St.

Since 2018 Art Camp 504 has rented space at The Tigermen Den, a music and culture venue in the Bywater neighborhood. While there, the nonprofit has grown to serve over 1,000 New Orleans’ youth annually through year-round art camps and classes ranging from toddler family music classes to film camps to creative writing classes and so much more.

“Our time at The Tigermen Den has been nothing short of wonderful and it will always be a very special place to us,” said Art Camp 504’s Founder and Executive Director Sam Bass. “It’s time to spread our wings and have our own building in order to serve our community in bigger, more creative ways.”

The two-story building has almost double the square footage that Art Camp 504 previously had access to, giving the nonprofit more room to run concurrent classes as well as for bigger class sizes. “It also gives us space for future dreams - like our own film studio, a stage and a more professional culinary space,” Bass continued.

“We’re embarking on a multi-year, three-phase plan to turn our new building into something more magical than it already is,” said Art Camp 504 Board of Directors Chair Anna Ruth Peiffer. “In order to make this possible, we’ll be launching a capital campaign this summer and look forward to engaging local businesses, foundations and community members in supporting us as we cultivate the next generation of New Orleans creatives.”

Art Camp 504’s will hold its first classes in its new building starting this summer. See the full lineup of summer camps and night/weekend art classes at artcamp504.org, including first-time classes for families and adults.
